GIS Administrator

The Village of Bartlett, located in Cook, DuPage, and Kane counties, is seeking applicants for our GIS Administrator position.  

The GIS Administrator will lead and manage our Geographic Information System (GIS) infrastructure. This is a key technical role responsible for maintaining the accuracy of spatial data, developing GIS tools and applications, supporting internal departments, and facilitating strategic decision-making throughout the organization.

Reporting to the Information Systems Director, the GIS Administrator will oversee GIS operations, provide training and support, coordinate cross-departmental GIS initiatives, and act as the primary liaison with external agencies on GIS-related matters.

In addition to managing projects for the GIS division, the GIS Administrator will develop, maintain, and enhance GIS-based applications; design and build web-based GIS tools, dashboards, and mobile apps to support decision-making processes; and implement and manage integrations between GIS systems and external databases.

The Administrator will assist in creating, maintaining, and updating geospatial datasets and databases for application development; perform complex spatial analyses to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that support departmental projects; and automate repetitive cartographic tasks through GIS scripting. Additionally, the Administrator will integrate geospatial data from various sources into GIS applications while ensuring the quality, integrity, and consistency of the data. 

The role comprises troubleshooting GIS applications, offering technical support to end-users, and developing user guides, training materials, and documentation. 

Candidates must have a minimum of four years of GIS experience and must possess the following: proficiency in GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Experience Builder; experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Arcade, and SQL for GIS application development; familiarity with web development tools and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for building GIS web applications; excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively working with non-technical audiences; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail; the ability to work independently and collaboratively while focusing on delivering high-quality work; and experience working with ArcGIS Dashboards, StoryMaps, Survey123, and implementing custom GIS solutions.

The current starting wage range is between $39.00 and $48.00 per hour, depending on experience.
