We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Spatial Technology Specialist to support our enterprise spatial technology initiatives across departments. This role requires a forward-thinking professional with deep experience in GIS, emerging spatial technologies, and process innovation. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Spatial Technology with Village-wide GIS and spatial initiatives
- Design, development, and deployment of advanced GIS tools, dashboards, web apps, and mobile data collection systems.
- Support the development of spatial technologies including Esri platform (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise), GPS/GNSS data collection, and 3D/imagery solutions.
- Serve as a technical expert on OpenGov Cartegraph. Assist with the support, growth and overall success throughout the Village.
- Innovate with new technologies such as reality capture, IoT sensors, AI/ML integrations, or real-time location services (RTLS).
- Evaluate, test, and implement emerging geospatial tools and data standards to ensure data quality, accuracy, and long-term value.
- Assist Management of full geospatial data lifecycle, including acquisition, QA/QC, governance, and automation strategies (e.g., ModelBuilder, Python).
- Represent the organization in regional GIS user groups, vendor meetings, or innovation networks.

Starting salary DOQ
2025 Salary Range of $87,944 - $124,880

Hours and Schedule:
Full-time - 40 hours per week/8 hours per day Monday – Friday between 8 a.m and 5 p.m.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4 - 10 years (or equivalent progressive experience) working with spatial technologies in a professional setting.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Esri GIS platform and spatial data infrastructure.
- Demonstrated success in delivering enterprise GIS applications, smart maps, and modern spatial tools.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Python, Arcade, JavaScript API, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Trimble GPS/GNSS hardware and related software.
- Familiarity with SQL (RMDB) concepts as they relate to Esri Enterprise GIS.
- Experience auditing and cleaning legacy data from Excel, Access, and paper records, including resolving duplicates, fixing coordinate issues, and assigning accurate spatial references.
- Strong background in geodatabase design with the ability to set up domains, subtypes, and relationships to ensure consistency and long-term usability across departments.
- API Integration experience with Esri and other business systems (e.g., asset management, permitting, SCADA).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Passion for innovation, data quality, and public service.
Preferred Skills (Bonus):
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to convey ideas and contribute to project success through collaboration.
- Well-rounded experience with local government GIS including but not limited to: utilities, infrastructure, economic development, environmental systems, Police and Fire.
- Esri Technical Certification in ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise Associate preferred
- Experience with digital twin technologies such as 3D GIS, ArcGIS Indoors, etc.
- Familiarity with Open Data and community engagement platforms.
- Knowledge of FGDC standards, enterprise geodatabases, and spatial metadata management.
